What happens during a tandem skydive?
A tandem skydive is the standard first-jump experience. You wear a passenger harness attached at four secure connection points to your instructor’s tandem parachute system. The instructor manages the aircraft exit, freefall, parachute deployment, canopy flight and landing approach; you follow a few simple positions practised during the briefing.

Your instructor covers the exit, freefall body position, communication and the legs-up landing position.

Harness and safety checks
You are fitted with the passenger harness and goggles. The equipment and connections are checked before boarding and again in the aircraft.

Flight to altitude
The climb is part of the experience: watch the Marche countryside widen beneath the aircraft as you approach exit altitude.

Freefall
After exit, the tandem drogue stabilises the pair. Expect around 40–45 seconds from 12,000 ft or up to about 60–70 seconds from 15,000 ft.

Canopy flight and landing
Once the main parachute opens, the pace changes. Enjoy several panoramic minutes under canopy before the instructor guides the landing.

Times and altitudes are indicative: aircraft, air traffic, weather and operational conditions always determine the actual profile. If 15,000 ft cannot be reached, the jump may operate from the standard altitude under the conditions shown during booking.

Who can do a tandem jump?
You do not need a skydiving course, licence or athletic training. You must, however, fit the harness correctly and be able to perform the simple positions used during exit and landing.

Where is Skydive Sunrise?
Our drop zone is at the Aviosuperficie del Fermano in the province of Fermo, Marche. For the most accurate live route, search “Skydive Sunrise” on Google Maps or use the map link below.
This is a rural airfield, so travelling by car is normally the most practical option. International visitors often build the jump into a stay on the Adriatic coast or a road trip through central Italy.
Weather, waiting times and the best season to skydive
Skydiving is weather-dependent. Wind speed and direction, gusts, cloud base, visibility, runway conditions and air traffic all affect operations. A bright forecast for the coast does not necessarily describe conditions at altitude or over the airfield.
Allow several hours rather than planning around an exact take-off time. Delays are possible and a jump may be rescheduled when conditions are unsuitable. If skydiving is a highlight of your trip, keep a backup day free whenever possible.
What to wear and bring
Clothing
Wear comfortable sports clothes appropriate for the temperature. Layers are useful in cooler months. Avoid very loose garments, large hoods and dangling accessories.
Footwear
Choose closed trainers with flat soles and secure laces. Do not wear sandals, heels, boots with hooks or shoes that could come off in freefall.
Essentials
Bring valid photo ID and your booking details. Eat a normal light meal, stay hydrated and do not consume alcohol before the activity.
Prescription glasses and contact lenses can normally be worn under suitable protective goggles; mention them during fitting. Tie back long hair securely. Phones, keys and personal cameras remain on the ground.
Can I get photos and video of the jump?
Yes. Video options can be selected according to the packages available in the booking process. Skydive Sunrise uses Insta360 systems to capture the exit, freefall and the landscape around you, giving you a shareable record of a moment that otherwise passes very quickly.
Passengers may not take a handheld phone, GoPro or personal action camera into freefall. Camera equipment creates snag, impact and distraction risks and is used only under dedicated procedures. Booking online before you travel is the simplest way to view available dates and secure your place. Select your preferred date and time, number of passengers and any available upgrades. The booking flow shows the amount due and the applicable conditions before checkout.

Use the online calendar to choose a date. Weekends and holiday periods can fill early, so book ahead if your itinerary has limited flexibility.

Frequently asked questions about tandem skydiving in Italy
Do I need previous skydiving experience?
No. Tandem skydiving is designed for first-time jumpers. Your qualified instructor controls the technical phases while you follow a short pre-jump briefing.
Is the briefing available in English?
International visitors are welcome. Contact us before booking if you have specific language or communication needs so the team can confirm arrangements for your date.
How long is the freefall?
The standard jump from 12,000 ft offers approximately 40–45 seconds of freefall. The 15,000-ft option can provide about 60–70 seconds. Actual altitude and timing depend on operational conditions.
How long should I allow for the whole experience?
Keep several hours or a substantial part of the day free. Check-in, briefing, equipment, aircraft rotations, air traffic and weather can all affect timing.
Can my friends and family come with me?
Accompanying guests can normally watch from the areas indicated by staff, subject to the airfield’s operational rules on the day. They cannot board the jump aircraft unless separately authorised and booked.
What happens if the weather is unsuitable?
Operations may be delayed, paused or rescheduled. Wind, clouds and visibility are assessed at the drop zone; the decision is based on safe operating conditions, not simply a general weather app.
Can I wear glasses or contact lenses?
Normally yes. Suitable protective goggles can be worn over many prescription glasses and with contact lenses. Tell the team during the fitting.
Can I bring my own GoPro?
No. Tandem passengers cannot take a phone or personal action camera into freefall. Choose one of the video options available through the centre instead.
Is Skydive Sunrise close to Rome?
The drop zone is in the Marche region near Fermo, on Italy’s Adriatic side. It can form part of a central-Italy road trip, but it is not a Rome-city drop zone. Check the live route on Google Maps before planning a day trip.
