Can you take a skydiving course in Italy as a beginner? Yes. At Skydive Sunrise near Fermo, the AFF programme starts with ground training and a first jump using your own parachute while qualified AFF instructors assist you in freefall. The course is progressive: each level is passed only after its objectives have been achieved.

What is an AFF skydiving course?

AFF means Accelerated Freefall. It is a learning path that introduces freefall from the first level, rather than keeping the student on a static-line progression. Before every jump there is ground preparation; afterwards, the jump is reviewed with the instructor.

The point is not to collect a fixed number of jumps. Each level has practical objectives involving stable body position, altitude awareness, deployment, canopy control and landing preparation. If an objective needs more work, it is repeated before the student moves on.

Ground training

Learn before the aircraft

Procedures, equipment, simulations and the sequence of the jump are practised on the ground.

Freefall

Coached from the first level

Qualified instructors assist and evaluate the early stages of the freefall progression.

Canopy flight

Build sound habits

Opening, navigation, landing circuit and priorities under canopy are part of the learning path.

How the AFF course works at Skydive Sunrise

The programme combines training on the ground, jumps, briefings and debriefings. Your pace depends on continuity, weather, operational conditions and the skills demonstrated at each stage.

  1. Prepare on the ground.
Learn the equipment, flight sequence, body position, canopy procedures and the exercises for the first level.
  2. Complete the early AFF levels.
Make your first freefall jumps with direct instructor assistance and work on the essential skills.
  3. Progress towards autonomy.
As objectives are met, the exercises and level of assistance change progressively.
  4. Review and consolidate.
Debrief each jump, repeat objectives where necessary and continue with student jumps after the seven AFF levels.

How much does an AFF course cost in Italy?

The first AFF level starts from €700. The complete seven-level course is €1,800. These figures describe the current course options; the final scope, availability and any additional requirements are confirmed with the school before enrolment.

Option Price For whom
First AFF level From €700 A starting point for students who want to begin the programme with the school.
Complete AFF course €1,800 The seven-level AFF programme, subject to the stated course conditions and individual progression.

Prices do not turn the course into a guaranteed fixed-duration package: weather, continuity, operational conditions and any repeated levels affect the individual path.

Where is the course held?

Skydive Sunrise operates at the Aviosuperficie del Fermano near Fermo, in Le Marche, on Italy’s Adriatic side. The drop zone is in central Italy, within reach of coastal towns such as Porto San Giorgio and Civitanova Marche, and inland destinations including Ascoli Piceno and Macerata.

For international students, contact the school before making travel plans. We can discuss the course calendar, required documents, suitable travel timing and the practical arrangements for your training days.

How long does an AFF course take?

There is no identical timetable for every student. Progress depends on attendance continuity, the weather, operations, learning pace and whether a level needs to be repeated. This is a safety and teaching requirement, not a delay to be worked around.

Before booking travel: ask the school about available dates and build flexibility into your plans. The course is arranged around real flying conditions and the progression of the student.

What happens after the seven AFF levels?

Completing level seven does not immediately grant a parachuting licence. It begins a consolidation phase: further student jumps, coaching and experience are needed before the theory and practical requirements for the applicable licence can be completed.

That next stage is important. It gives the student time to strengthen freefall control, separation, deployment, canopy navigation and landing decisions under the supervision and authorisations that apply to the programme.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a tandem jump before starting AFF?

A tandem jump can help you experience skydiving, but the school will explain the route that fits your starting point when you enquire about the AFF programme.

Do the seven AFF levels always mean seven jumps?

No. A level represents learning objectives, not simply a numbered jump. Exercises or a level can be repeated when the objectives have not yet been met.

Can I learn to skydive if I do not speak Italian?

Contact the school before you travel. Every briefing and safety instruction must be fully understood, so arrangements in English are confirmed case by case.

Can I get my licence after AFF?

AFF is the first structured stage. Further consolidation and the relevant theoretical and practical requirements are needed before a licence can be issued.

What should I do before I travel to Italy?

Ask about dates, course availability, medical documentation and the practical arrangements before booking travel or accommodation.
